Ajanta Caves (Ajanta - India)

The first major Buddhist monuments at Ajanta date from the 2nd and 1st centuries BC.
During the Gupta period (5th and 6th centuries), many more richly decorated caves were added to the original group.
The cave paintings and sculptures of Ajanta are considered masterpieces of Buddhist religious art.
These two monument groups corresponding to two important historical events in India, show an extraordinary evidence of the development of Indian art, as well as the crucial role of the Buddhist community.
They also had a significant influence on other art in India and surrounding areas, especially on the island of Java.

The five most beautiful wallpapers and pictures of the Ajanta caves in India.
