Skiing

Skiing is moving over snow or an artificial ski slope using two 'boards' called skis, which are attached to the feet. 

The word ski comes from the Old Norse skiða, which means 'straight board'. 

In the past, skiing was not a sport, but a means of transport in the winter months.
