Arthur's Pass, located in the eponymous national park and is one of the connections between the east and west coasts.
The pass is located in one of the most popular hiking areas of the South Island.
Many peaks higher than 2,000 meters, but there can still be made simple enough walks.
It is a national park contrasts with dry beech (Tawhai forests) in the east and lush rainforest on the western slopes.
