The Chinese Nightingale

The Chinese Nightingale is a fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen about an emperor who hears of a bird in his realm that can sing very beautifully. 

He has the bird search for him and from that moment on the nightingale comes to sing to the emperor every evening. 

One day, the emperor receives a golden mechanical nightingale and only listens to this beautiful fake bird. 

When this precious bird breaks down one day, the emperor falls ill and threatens to die. 

Until the real nightingale comes to sing for him and the emperor gets well again.
