With over 35,000 inhabitants, Kópavogur is the second largest city in Iceland after Reykjavík.
The city is located south of Reykjavík and belongs to the Greater Reykjavík region and forms the municipality of Kópavogsbær in the Höfuðborgarsvæðið region.
