Ibarra is a city and parish in the north of Ecuador in the canton of Ibarra.
It is the capital of the Imbabura province. The city is situated at an altitude of 2210 meters.
The city is sometimes called "La Ciudad Blanca".
The city was founded in 1606 by Cristóbal de Troya.
