Lorentz National Park - Indonesia

Lorentz National Park (2.35 million ha) is the largest protected area in South-East Asia. 

It is the only protected area in the world to incorporate a continuous, intact transect from snowcap to tropical marine environment, including extensive lowland wetlands. 

Located at the meeting-point of two colliding continental plates, the area has a complex geology with ongoing mountain formation as well as major sculpting by glaciation. 

The area also contains fossil sites which provide evidence of the evolution of life on New Guinea, a high level of endemism and the highest level of biodiversity in the region.

Castillo de los Mendoza

In the small community of Manzanares el Real, at the foot of a mountain range not far from Madrid, is a magnificently restored 15th century Castile castle. 

It was used as a residential palace for the Dukes of the Intifado. Below the castle is a 16th-century church. 

The entire domain is accessible to the public.

Litomyšl Castle - Czechia

Litomyšl Castle was originally a Renaissance arcade-castle of the type first developed in Italy and then adopted and greatly developed in central Europe in the 16th century. 

Its design and decoration are particularly fine, including the later High-Baroque features added in the 18th century. 

It preserves intact the range of ancillary buildings associated with an aristocratic residence of this type.

Laurisilva of Madeira - Portugal

The Laurisilva of Madeira is an outstanding relict of a previously widespread laurel forest type. 

It is the largest surviving area of laurel forest and is believed to be 90% primary forest. 

It contains a unique suite of plants and animals, including many endemic species such as the Madeiran long-toed pigeon.

Tbong Khmum Province

Tboung Khmum is a province of Cambodia, located in the central lowlands of the Mekong River. 

It borders the provinces of Kampong Cham to the west, Kratie to the north, Prey Veng to the south and shares an international border with Vietnam to the east.

Kalwaria Zebrzydowska - Poland

Kalwaria Zebrzydowska is a breathtaking cultural landscape of great spiritual significance. 

Its natural setting – in which a series of symbolic places of worship relating to the Passion of Jesus Christ and the life of the Virgin Mary was laid out at the beginning of the 17th century – has remained virtually unchanged. 

It is still today a place of pilgrimage.

Hardanger Bridge

The Hardangerbrua is a suspension bridge over the Eidfjord, a branch of the Hardangerfjord in Norway. The bridge is located between the municipalities of Ullensvang and Ulvik in the southwestern province of Hordaland.

Saint-Emilion - France

Viticulture was introduced to this fertile region of Aquitaine by the Romans, and intensified in the Middle Ages. 

The Saint-Emilion area benefited from its location on the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela and many churches, monasteries and hospices were built there from the 11th century onwards. 

It was granted the special status of a 'jurisdiction' during the period of English rule in the 12th century. 

It is an exceptional landscape devoted entirely to wine-growing, with many fine historic monuments in its towns and villages.
