Røros Mining Town - Norway

Røros Mining Town and the Circumference is linked to the copper mines, established in the 17th century and exploited for 333 years until 1977.
The site comprises the Town and its industrial-rural cultural landscapes; Femundshytta, a smelter with its associated area; and the Winter Transport Route.
Completely rebuilt after its destruction by Swedish troops in 1679, Røros contains about 2000 wooden one- and two-storey houses and a smelting house.
Many of these buildings have preserved their blackened wooden façades, giving the town a medieval appearance.
Surrounded by a buffer zone, coincident with the area of privileges (the Circumference) granted to the mining enterprise by the Danish-Norwegian Crown (1646), the property illustrates the establishment and flourishing of a lasting culture based on copper mining in a remote region with a harsh climate.

The baseball plant (Euphorbia obesa)

This particular looking plant is in danger of extinction.
This is because many plant lovers want an Euphorbia obesa for its appearance.
Because of this, unfortunately, there are still few to be found in nature.
Despite the fact that the plant is endangered in its natural habitat, you can regularly encounter it in people's homes.
In recent years, increasing attention has been paid to protecting the Euphorbia obesa.
For example, the plant is cultivated in botanical gardens to ensure that plant lovers do not get them from nature, but buy from them.

Paphos - Cyprus

Paphos has been inhabited since the Neolithic period.
It was a centre of the cult of Aphrodite and of pre-Hellenic fertility deities.
Aphrodite's legendary birthplace was on this island, where her temple was erected by the Myceneans in the 12th century B.C.
The remains of villas, palaces, theatres, fortresses and tombs mean that the site is of exceptional architectural and historic value.
The mosaics of Nea Paphos are among the most beautiful in the world.
